Here are some points I use.  You can review them see if you can use them:

General direction of my living:

So far I have learnt from different religions and Brahma Kumaris, and following is gist of the points.  Only reading these points may not be able to give you a lot.  To improve your living and to obtain more happiness, you should watch DVD series like Self Management, Happiness Unlimited, Going Beyond and Being Bliss by sister Shivani.

I am a soul who is residing in my body.  Purpose of this life is to interact with other souls with my original qualities, like Happiness, Love, Bliss, Knowledge / Truth, Peace, Purity, Power / Strength.

Our soul is energy and comprises of mind, intellect and sanskars.  Our thoughts generate feelings, attitudes, plans, which generate actions, then sanskars, then personalities and thereby our destiny.  Our all thoughts generate positive or negative energies, which either add or subtract from the energies of our soul.  We should try to generate only positive energies.  Helping someone generates positive energy.  Any time we are upset or angry, it creates negative energy.  If we understand that every one is CORRECT the way they react (at least from their own views), we can eliminate angers from our life.  We should strive to bring out only positivity in ourselves as well as in others.  We should not judge anyone because we cannot completely understand what he or she is going thru.

Self-respect / self-esteem, self-control and self-confidence are good.  Ahankar is bad.  Anger gets generated mainly from Ahankar.  If some one has removed Ahankar from his/her life, that person will seldom get angry.

Responsibility = Ability to Respond.
My first responsibility is for myself to stay stable, then for family, then for all other works in the world.  I understand that outside world can act in any way, but my response is always in my control.  The happiness or sorrow in me is created only by my own thoughts.  If any one becomes happy or sad because of others and outside situations, has given away his switch of happiness to others.

We should not confuse body comforts with happiness.  We can obtain unlimited happiness only from the things that are directly in our control.  We should try to understand which things are in our control and any thing which is not in our control, we should never try to change it.  The direction of our journey is in our control and destination is not.  Any thing outside of us is not in our control.  Some one, who thinks he will obtain happiness after achieving a goal, will not get unlimited happiness.  Unlimited happiness will be created when we happily keep doing our jobs.

Karmic Rules:

I have made these rules for me.  You should think about them and modify them as your thinking directs you.

I am a soul which came to take part of the process of living in a body, interact with other similar bodies, leave the body when time comes and again take up another body and keep repeating this cycle for quite long time.  When I took the very first body, I came with a perfect score and I had no positive or negative destiny.  During my successive body cycles, I kept doing positive and negative thoughts and actions, which kept creating my destinies for next cycles and also kept modifying my sanskars.

When I took my present body, I brought my sanskars and my all the previous karmic accounts with me.  The destiny created by my previous karmic accounts is the reason for whatever came in my life.  Similarly, the future things to come will be because of my previous karmas and the karmas I will be doing now.

Important point to know is that what ever karmas I have done so far, have already created my destiny, but I have the option to start modifying my destiny by changing my karmas now.

Some General Points

Where to look for Happiness:

To obtain happiness, some change their jobs, some change their education, some change their place of living, some change their religion, some change their life partners, ……. There are many instances when changing certain elements, one becomes happier. At the same time, there are many changes which did not bring the desired happiness to the individual.

Here I remember a statement – Do not search for happiness any where. It is in side you. There are many cases when this statement is even more than correct. In my opinion, if you can develop a habit of seeing “half cup full”, you will develop satisfaction and happiness.

You should make best efforts to find out who and what you are. Once you find that out, it will help you to dig out the happiness in side of you. Another statement is worth remembering – Your happiness should not be because of any one or any thing. The main reason for the correctness of this statement is that you can not predict what others will do or say and if your happiness is based on them, you may become unhappy many times.

It will be beneficial for you to seriously think about helping others

We spend most of our time and energies in trying to bring benefits to ourselves. Sometimes we succeed and sometimes we do not. Whenever we do not succeed, we get upset and think other ways to succeed. Many times when we succeed, it brings another addition of GHAMUND in us, which modifies our personality in negative direction.

Here I want to discuss about helping others. Whenever you are thinking for the benefit of someone else, it makes you feel good. Additionally if you remember that it is just a matter of chance that you are capable of thinking of someone else, it will keep you humble. The fact is that the situation could have been reversed also. Here please try to remember another fact – the fact that you or anyone else were born in a particular household, had nothing to do with efforts you made in this life. When you are thinking about others, your thinking is “plus”, because it is not selfish. There may be many actions you will be hesitant to do if those actions were for your own selfish interest, where as when you are doing it for others, you will get additional strength in doing the same actions. As an example, it may be uncomfortable to ask any one for financial help, but for helping others, I will not hesitate to ask for help.

Please do not start thinking that if you are doing something good, you are superior to others. Even a slightest feeling of such superiority will pull you down. Please try to remember that you can only try to do something. You may succeed or may not succeed in your efforts. Success or failure is not because of your action only. All the results are based upon many other factors also, which are well beyond your controls.

Here it may be good to mention that while dealing with any one, please carry only positive feelings. In my suggestion, you should either “love” someone or “respect” someone or both. Please do not start developing negative feelings like hatred for any one. Please give benefit of doubt to everyone. Even if someone steals something from you, you can think that may be if you were in that person’s situation, you might have done the same thing.

Try to improve all situations:

Try to leave every place you visit in a better shape than you entered there. Some of the examples:

You are walking on the road and see a stone in a dangerous place for coming vehicles. Pick up the stone and place it where it will not hurt anyone.

You go to bathroom and see some paper on the floor. Pick up the paper and put it with the trash.

You notice someone needs help, help the person (I do not recommend helping professional beggars with money).

Typical Cycle of Life, the way I have learnt it:

I think we all understand that our cycle of life among other details includes – Birth, Childhood, Education, Adult life, Getting Older and finally Death.

I will try to summarize few important aspects of this life as I learnt from various sources:

1. A child must follow directions of parents and elders, as the child has very little knowledge and experience. During this phase it will be good if the child learns things about what life is, and how we should interact with others. Parents, Teachers and Religious sources can make appropriate input.

2. Student should work hard and learn about life in greater details and try to acquire education for adult phase of life.

3. As an adult one should try to give benefits to the community and make use of knowledge to develop some assets which can be used in older phase of life. During this phase one develops family, have children, educate children and try to help the community in whatever ways one can.

4. Next phase of life should be used to mostly help others**. During this phase, one has reservoir of knowledge, some wealth and experience and one should try to give these commodities to deserving and needy younger generation.

5. We should notice that most of the animals can think only about themselves, but humans should be thinking about others also. In my opinion, when we gradually keep getting older, our thinking about others should keep increasing. As an example, at my age, I should be spending majority of time for others.

6. With death, we drop each and every physical commodity from our life, including assets, relatives and friends. Some believe that our ATMA will survive and may carry some of the results of our actions with it and even carry them to our next life.
While growing up, I learnt following things which helped shape my life. May be you can also consider them in developing your life plans:
A) I was told that we all take birth and eventually we all will die.
B) Our span of life is not known to us, but very rarely goes over 100 years.
C) Whatever decisions we make and howsoever hard we work, results are not guaranteed to us. At the same time, mostly our good planning and hard work may produce desirable results.
D) Just like Newton’s laws, our each and every action will develop appropriate result.
E) The entire NATURE is so huge that sometimes the results of our actions may be delivered to us much later in time. Some believe that these results can even come to us in next life.

Helping Others:

In one of the scriptures I learnt followings:

As long as we live, we keep doing lot of things. Although it is necessary to do many things to keep our body and ourselves in good working condition, benefits of all such actions will end with end of our body. At the same time, whatever actions we do for the benefit of others, will not end with end of our body. And will stay with our soul.

I suggest we should try to form some kind of guidelines for our life. I have shown following form just as an example:

Our Age % of time and resources spent for "others"

10 2 to 5
25 5 to 10
50 10 to 15
70 15 to 50
80 50 to 80
After 80 80 to 95

It is necessary to define “others”. Actually, any of your relatives or friends is part of your life and they are not “others”. “Others” mean those individuals whom you came to know for the purpose of helping them. Similarly any help given for even indirect purpose of your profits should not come in the category of helping others.

There are many persons who have devoted lot more time and resources for helping others.

Winners and loosers

I received following in an e-mail. I think it is helpful:

Winner and Loser

Winner sees the potential;
Loser sees the past.

Winner makes it happen;
Loser lets it happen.

Winner sees possibilities;
Loser sees problems.

Winner makes commitments;
Loser makes promises.

Winner is a part of the team;
Loser is apart from the team.

Winner always has a programme;
Loser always has an excuse.

Winner says "Let me do it for you";
Loser says "That is not my job".

Winner says "I must do something";
Loser says "Something must be done".

Winner is always a part of the answer;
Loser is always a part of the problem.

Winner sees an answer for every problem;
Loser sees a problem for every answer.

Winner believes in win/win;
Loser believes for them to win, someone has to lose.

Winner says "It may be difficult but it is possible";
Loser says "It may be possible but it is too difficult".

Winner makes a mistake. he says "I was wrong";
Loser makes a mistake, he says "It wasn't my fault"

Job Interviews

Some suggestions for job interviews:

I have some suggestions for you:

1. Once you get an invitation for a job interview, try to evaluate if you want to go for interview or not. My suggestion is that unless you clearly know that you are NOT interested in the job, you should attend the interview. Due to lack of experience, in the beginning, you may not be able to fully understand the job you are being offered. My suggestion is that if you have any doubts, please go for the interview.

2. Before you go for interview, do your research and find out lot of information about the company as well as the job for which you plan to go for this interview. If possible, find out who will be interviewing you.

3. Prepare yourself for possible questions from the interviewers. While doing so, analyze as to how you can help the company, what your good points are, how flexible you will be, how your interests will help you do better work. At the same time, DO NOT make any wrong or misleading statements, do not pretend what you are not. If you give them misleading impressions, very soon they will back-fire on you.

4. Prepare your questions for the interviewers. Do not think that this interview means that only “they” will ask you questions. The correct interview means that you should also ask “them” your questions. Once they finish asking you their questions, if it is not already clarified in their documents, ask questions like – your salary, health benefits, other fringe benefits, work times, holidays, vacations, any help for further education for you, any travels needed, your responsibilities, whom will you be reporting, who does your evaluation, …

5. If you can, dress appropriately for the interview.

6. At the end of interview, make sure to thank them for the interview.

7. Next day send them a letter to thank them for the interview. DO NOT thank them by e-mail. In this letter, you can once again mention your best points, but DO NOT make it a long letter – KEEP IT LESS THAN A PAGE.

Following points were discussed in the meeting of January 17, 2010:

1. You should realize that you are not an average “joe”. Keep your spirits high and your “Ahankar” very low.

2. Please find gurus for you. – A guru can help you because he/she may not be affected by the situation you may be in.

3. Do not concentrate on results. Concentrate only on your hard work. The results are based upon many other factors including your work. In general your work will bring suitable results.

4. Do not become selfish.

5. Always have plans for: Life, Year, Month and today. You can keep modifying these plans based upon new inputs.

6. Make a practice to give benefit of doubt and stop doubting others. This will make your own life simple.

7. Try to develop only two ways to treat others – with love and with respect. Sometimes it may need work to find the qualities which deserve respect.

8. Take advice from all sources, but at the end you must use your own judgment and take full responsibility for your ideas and actions.

9. Make efforts to leave every place a little better than you found it.

10. Studies - Pay attention in the class, Concentration, Hard work, Interaction with the teachers.

11. Some matrimonial points – These are only my personal opinions and you should take input from your family regarding any controversial points.

Some suggestions on how to select your life partner or a friend:

This subject is such a complex one that even after many years and centuries there is no comprehensive answer to it. In my experience, I have found that many couples jump into marriage with very idealistic thoughts and dreams. Unfortunately, when faced with day to day realities and issues, this idealism fades and is replaced with negativity and resentment toward the other partner. Upon completion of your education, you all will be ready to take the next step in life. I would like to suggest the following ideas:

1. I am sure you all want to get married to a person of your dreams. I think that is your first mistake. The entire married life is not comprised of dreams, but of real day to day facts and issues. While physical beauty and appearance are important to ensure attraction, it is more important to learn about the other person’s nature and qualities to see if you can work together and share the life goals. One way to evaluate this could be to have both individuals write down their lists of
a. your personal good qualities
b. your personal bad qualities
c. “deal breakers” – issues that are of extreme, non-negotiable importance (i.e. my parents will always live with me)
d. what qualities you would like to see in your partner
e. what qualities you dislike in other people
f. your expectations of your partner
g. etc

Once you both exchange your lists you can easily see what ideas you differ on and further discuss those points. During your discussion, if you are able to find a middle ground on those issues, then there is a good chance you both will be able to compromise. However if you find that you both are disagreeing and unable to compromise, you may want to avoid attempting to form an “everlasting” relationship with this match.

2. Do not ever think that things will change after marriage or that you will be able to change the other person after marriage. Many times things change for the worse. No one can change another person unless the other person desires the change within themselves.

3. In my opinion, it is good to get married to a proper person. On the other hand, it is better to stay unmarried rather than getting married to an incompatible partner.

4. Do not compare potential partners. Evaluate each person on an individual basis to see if he/she is right for you. Also, trust your instinct.

Here are some points after you are married:

1. Do not criticize or blame actions of your spouse. Actually I do not think that you should criticize or blame anyone, because we all do everything based upon our best judgments.

2. Once you make the decision to commit to another person, make sure you put in 100% effort to compromise and make the relationship a success. Any relationship requires compromises from both sides. Do not compare your compromises or sacrifices to your partner’s. In order to make your marriage a success, you must see yourself and your partner as a team and always do what is best for the team.

3. The reality is that you and your spouse will have disagreements after marriage. This is normal for all couples. Two educated individuals will always have their own opinions and views on various topics. During a disagreement, do your best to stay calm and listen to your partner’s point of view with an open-mind. Take turns listening to one another and then work to come to a compromise that suits both of you.

4. In the event that you are unable to find a compromise or solution, you should both be able to discuss your issues with a trusted “guru”. This person can be your parents, a teacher, another married couple that you both trust. Do your best to find someone who sincerely has your best interest at heart and whose guidance and advice you trust. Your parents have gone through the adjustment of marriage and have great experience. As your well-wishers they might be the best advisors on how to handle difficult situations. Always remember, you are not alone. Many couples have issues. The test is how you get through those issues and strengthen your relationship.

5. Try not to have unrealistic expectations of your partner. When the other person does not meet your expectations or does not always do what you expect, you will only be disappointed. Also, remember that your partner is not a mind reader. If there is something you want her/him to do, tell her/him.

6. Never compare your spouse to others that you know. Your wife will never be the same as your mother or sister’s and you should not expect that of her. Your husband will never be the same as your father or brother’s and you should not expect that of him.

7. Following “customs”: Customs are formed after many years of experiences, so many of them may be appropriate even after long times. There can also be some problems in following customs blindly. I think you should honor and follow some customs, but if some custom seems in-appropriate, then make use of your own judgment. There may be customs which were formed earlier which are not appropriate today.

One example in Hindu ideology is “DAUGHTER IS PARAYA DHAN” and “KANYA DAAN”, refer Sai baba serial.

090827 MARRIAGE SYSTEM WITH COMMENTS FROM ADMIRAL BHARATHAN

Along with your education, many of you will be entering new phase of life - Marriage. I think this is such an important subject that it will be worht while to discuss some of following points in our next common meeting. I will keep you informed about time and place of our next meeting. It will be on some sunday. If any of you will not be able to attend any sundays from November 29 to January 31, 2010, please let me know.

MARRIAGE SYSTEM

All human beings require wise counsel from time to time.

The spouse is your best friend motivated to give you sound advice

The spouse would also be a very good sounding board and reason with you on the merits of several decisions being taken.

Marriage is a very good safety valve both physically and mentally. It brings in a sense of responsibility while also looking after your emotional and physical natural needs.

Marriage and its institution create a good social network that is civilized and orderly in human conduct and behavior.

In the younger stages of life when energy levels are high one can mange to be all alone. As one grows older all human beings desire the comfort of a relationship. The hug of a mother is translated to hug of a spouse and children. Caring for your family would make you care for others too.

Marriage mostly guards against humans going astray. Even today despite society becoming more liberal, the institution of marriage is a safeguard against physically weakening promiscuity and consequent disease as well loose morality with adverse effects on professionalism and society.

The laws of the jungle would perhaps prevail but for the sacred institution of marriage and without it there would be more crimes in the society.

090826 POINTS FROM ADMIRAL BHARATHAN

I requested my good friend Admiral Venkat Bharathan to share advice from his life experiences so that I could pass it on to you. I would like for all of you to review his advice and start applying these words of wisdom to your life.

Every human being is more talented than what he or she thinks.

Every one of us needs to be more disciplined than what we actually are.

Our dreams and desires must be matched with drive and determination.

We must be able to always understand the difference between facts and perceptions.

Mental and physical fitness are the keys to open the lock of our life.

Planning is the key to success. If we fail to plan then we are planning to fail.

It is important to be excellent in what we are good at and strive to overcome our weaknesses.

It is important for us to finish the ordinary and routine things without postponement.

Each one of us must realize the value of our voice and must learn to use it well.

Attitude is the foundation of success. A good attitude would prepare us to face adversity and help us convert all challenges to opportunities.

It is Ok to have fears and doubts; it is not ok to be drowned by them. Overcoming them by planning, preparation partcipation and perseverance (the four P approach) would make us better human beings.

Each of us have to follow the 4 R theory; our Role, Responsibility, Routine and Relationship.

In life human relationship is the most important. This decides how our life is going to be shaped. Good relationship with our Father denotes respect for life and society; Mother denotes love and affection for humanity; Sisters and Brothers teach us the beauty of human relationship; Elders, Teachers, superiors (at work) tutor us in the laws of life; Children and their friends give us the chance to learn about the next generation; Subordinates or those less privileged make us grateful, humble, compassionate.

Self is the beginning of all of the above; selfishness is needed in life for self preservation. At the same time selfishness should not poison our self and others.

Understand what LUCK is.
L is for learning, listening, laughing, leading well.
U is for understanding, uniting, utilizing, being useful.
C is for being competent, confident, cheerful, compassionate.
K is for knowledge, keenness, kinship, kindness.

We must always dress well and think of the colours of clothes that suits us and improves our looks.
Posture and bearing are part of our personality development.
Lastly each one of us must always remember to be:
Confident without arrogance;
Modest without servility;
Right always in our facts;
Respectful in our dealings;
Responsible in our actions;
Credible in our conduct;
Pleasing in our manners;
Polite in our replies;
Able to control our anger and temper.

090815 POINTS TO IMPROVE YOURSELF

Most of us desire to improve ourselves. I spent lot of time in trying to analyze as to how can I improve myself. I came up with following idea. The basic concept of this idea is that I should try to find out as to what actions others should do by which I will consider them better persons. Then I should apply the idea to myself.

SERVICE, LOVE AND RESPECT:

I think you should be ready to serve any one who may need your service and without any desire for being paid back. Actually, any type of such service may benefit the other person, whom you are serving, but it will decidedly be beneficial to you. It will develop more confidence in you and you will feel lot better.

I think every one desires love and respect. Again with same basic concept, before you can get love and respect, you have to start giving love and respect to every one. In several religious ideas, they ask you to see GOD in every human being. If you can start practicing to see GOD in every living being, it will become easy to start loving and respecting every one and you will become a better person. When you start seeing GOD in every one, you will not criticize or blame any one. Just think for yourself – if some one blames or criticizes you, decidedly, you do not like it. Even a small child of two years old will prefer that what ever work he/she has done should not be condemned. It is good to remember that we all do every thing because we think that is right thing to do. So, if you think I should not have done it, it only means that we (you and me) think in different ways. That decidedly does not make me or you wrong.

You can play a game when you have time for yourself and do not expect to be disturbed – Write down all the instances that you remember when you blamed or criticized any one. Then evaluate all such instances for items like

At the end, was any one benefited with that?
Was there any other way, you could have handled the situation, without the criticism?

In most of the situations you will find that no one benefits with blames or criticism. Actually, the relationships can deteriorate with such actions. With some constructive thinking, you may be able to find how you could have changed your actions of criticism. Following statement may help.

There was swimming championship going on. One mother saw her daughter came in last in the race. Obviously, the mother could not change the outcome, but mother rushed to the daughter and told her that “flipping of your feet has become close to perfection.” In this case, the mother did not make any wrong statement and neither had she criticized her daughter for some thing the daughter had done her best.

Obviously, you have to do hard work to find “good and positive” aspects of any situation, whereas criticism is so easy to find. I suggest that you get in practice of doing hard work and start finding good aspects of every situation – I am sure there are positives.

090811 HOW TO SELECT YOUR FRIENDS

As we keep gaining experiences in our lives, we keep making friends and keep interacting with our friends and relatives. We all know that if we interact with any one with positive elements, our relationships will become better and go longer. Here I want to concentrate on how we can select good friends. Before I go forward, I want to discuss some thing important. Once I read that there are three types of friends – for a reason, for a season, and for life time. Friends for reason and season are for the sake of profits or conveniences. Because in general we keep looking after our interests and selfish motives, we can easily create methods to select and handle the friends of first two categories. My suggestions are only for friends for life – you can certainly extrapolate them for finding your life partners also.

EVALUATE YOUR SELF:

Some persons may think that evaluating yourself may be useless, because every one knows themselves. I have come across lot of intelligent and educated persons who have never spent time to evaluate themselves. That is the reason; I want to give this subject some importance.

Because I come from engineering background, I have to understand any thing I want to think and do, and I believe that I must write down my ideas. It allows me to review my ideas when I need them and may not be in the same state of mind. This is the reason I suggest that you also start writing your ideas and should always know how to find them at the time of need. One way is to write them on computer files and store them on a pen drive if you do not have your personal computer. One thing important to remember is that information on computer Medias is good, but at certain intervals you must keep an extra copy at a different place for the eventuality of loss of the media. Another method is to send e-mail to yourself attaching the files containing your ideas.

These are my suggestions:

Evaluate yourself as to who are you and what are you. Who you are is quite complicated and involves many religious and philosophical concepts, so I am not qualified to discuss it. I will try to help you in evaluating what you are.

First part of what you are is your resume or bio-data. Some people call it a “laundry list”. This describes information about you which is recorded some where and with appropriate help any one can verify it and it does not involve your thinking process. The second part is a list of your qualities, your preferences, likes and dislikes. I think everyone should be as clear as possible about their own particular list. Prepare this list as detailed as possible. Whenever you get additional ideas, keep modifying this list, but at any one time, you should have only one list. It may also be beneficial if you can start giving appropriate weights to some items in your list. If I want to make a list of 10 places to visit, I need to write them in a sequence of importance – so that if I do not have enough time or resources, I know which ones I need to visit first.

This list should include what are the things you like/dislike, what type of actions you like to do, what do you expect from a friend and similarly all other items that come in your mind.

Whenever you think of adding another individual as your friend, gradually, keep informing him/her ideas from this list. Chances are when you give your friend these ideas; your friend will also start giving you his/her similar ideas. If you decide that a particular friend will be your closer friend, make sure that you have conveyed him/her all the points from your list.

TRY TO EVALUATE YOUR FRIENDS:

Whenever you want some one to be your friend, you evaluate this person. Basically you try to find if there are more things which will make you happier in discussing or working with this person. I think the items which make you compatible with this person are good and necessary. At the same time, it is equally important to concentrate on the things which make the person “not compatible” for you. Spend lot of time to find “non compatible” qualities and evaluate if such items will be within your tolerance limits. If such items are likely to become beyond your limits, do not spend lot of time with this person.

VALUE OF OLD INDIAN IDEAS:

VALUE OF INDIAN IDEAS AND NEW CHANGES:

Very long time ago India was one of the most “advanced” society in the world. With change of times and with changed definitions of advancements, India became a slave, “third world country” and with lot of poverty. Recently, India became independent of British slavery and now it is catching up with the new “advanced” world.

Now in the advanced word also, India is being recognized as developing country. The old saying that “nothing succeeds like success” has started working for India. Now even the very old ideas and values which were developed in India have started becoming important for the advanced world.

From all this I want to make following suggestions for you:

In this period of time, the education you are receiving in India makes you lot more capable of handling the technical problems of your subjects as compared to the students studying in “western countries”.
The very very old ideas of honesty, truthfulness, hardworking etc have still the same importance as they had, when they were developed.
With today’s technology, you have access to most of the information being used or developed in the world. You can learn not only about the individuals and societies in India, but you can learn about most of the world. Even though there is so much information available, you still have to use your own mind in deciding what is good for you.
During my frequent travels, I have noticed the very fast rate of progress in India. With this rate of progress, I have also noticed that gradually more persons are making more money. This progress is bringing India towards advanced countries of the world. My wishful thinking is that with these advancements, you should still give importance to honesty, truthfulness, hardworking and not being selfish.
Please remember that when you become a successful professional, your hard work played important role. At the same time, please remember that apart from your hard work, there are many other factors which played different roles in your success. When you see a person who is not as successful as you are, please do not blame him or her. There are so many factors which played parts in your success, which may not have played in the life of the other person. This concept will help you in staying a better and less selfish person.

YOUR OPINION ABOUT YOU:

YOUR OPINION ABOUT YOU:

Are you hard working? Are you honest? Are you successful? Are you going in the right direction? Did you act appropriately?

The best judge to all such questions is YOU. It is very important that you should keep evaluating yourself. What “others” think of you is of lesser importance, because they can not know you as well as you know yourself. You should use other’s opinion just to give you additional ideas to think about, but please neither let opinion of others let you down or pump you up.

Here, another point can be considered. Some times, when you are involved in your own thinking, you may miss out some important points about yourself and opinion from others can be helpful. In this regard, it is ok to develop some scale of importance you give to other’s opinion. If in your judgment the other person is your well wisher, the person knows you quite well, the person has adequate knowledge about the subject, and similar other factors can be used to develop the amount of importance you should give to the opinion of others.

After taking every thing into account, please understand that whatever you think of yourself is the most important in your life and not what others think of you.

SOME THING TO LOOK FORWARD TO:

ALWAYS HAVE SOME THING TO LOOK FORWARD TO:

When you have some thing to look forward to, you will think and act with added energy. Even if what you are looking forward to is completely imaginary, it still will keep giving you added energy.

If you do not have any thing major to look forward to, try this: Use your imagination and find out what you like to do, where you want to go, whom you want to meet, … Then start evaluating how you should proceed to do what ever you planned for. You should not think there is any thing unobtainable. In my opinion, it is ok to try to strive at unobtainable. This way your mind will start planning and your body will start working towards some thing you want to reach at.

Here it is important to note that what ever you are looking forward to, you should not become obsessed with it, because the results are not in your hands.

OBTAIN STRENGTH BY DEVELOPING SELF CONTROL:

To try to explain meaning of self control, use some simple example:

Some students desire to do well in their studies. All those students will make their plans about their study times etc. The students, who will be able to actually follow their plans of studies more closely, will have better chance of doing well in their studies. The students, who will not be able to adhere to their own plans, will have less chance of doing well. Obviously the students, who will have better self control, will do better and eventually develop more confidence and strength.

As we all are different, we all have different characteristics about how we act. Personally I am lot less productive if I do not prepare my self in the morning by taking shower etc. My this habit made me get into a regular habit of taking shower before I start doing my work. Similarly you can develop your own habits to become relatively more productive in your works.
