OBTAIN STRENGTH BY DEVELOPING SELF CONTROL:

To try to explain meaning of self control, use some simple example:

Some students desire to do well in their studies. All those students will make their plans about their study times etc. The students, who will be able to actually follow their plans of studies more closely, will have better chance of doing well in their studies. The students, who will not be able to adhere to their own plans, will have less chance of doing well. Obviously the students, who will have better self control, will do better and eventually develop more confidence and strength.

As we all are different, we all have different characteristics about how we act. Personally I am lot less productive if I do not prepare my self in the morning by taking shower etc. My this habit made me get into a regular habit of taking shower before I start doing my work. Similarly you can develop your own habits to become relatively more productive in your works.
When you were born, you could not make any decision except when to cry or when to smile. Gradually, as you started growing up, you started making more decisions. This is the natural way. Depending upon your and your parent’s initiatives, during the upcoming year’s percentage of your decision making keeps increasing. As the time keeps passing, in addition to making your own decisions, you may start making decisions for others – your children and later even for your parents or even for your co workers. Very similarly, the time will come (understandingly you do not want to think about that time) when some decisions for you will be made by others – may be your children.

The most important part is that you should learn to make good decisions. Here I can make some suggestions.

Don’t be scared of making decisions. Some very successful person was asked as to “What was the secret of his success?” He replied “Making good decisions”. The obvious next question was “How did you learn to make good decisions?” His reply was “By making lot of decisions.”

When some result of your decision goes sour, take full responsibility for your decision and make efforts to rectify the situation.

As a human, you can not know every thing. You must keep learning by reading, listening to knowledgeable persons and keep using you judgment. Actually this learning process should never stop.

In my opinion at your age, apart from using your own judgments, take help from your parents, teachers or any other person you think may be able to help. You all will have different percentage of authority to make final decisions. For example, most of you will have 100% authority of deciding when and how much to study for different subjects. Most of you will have some restrictions as to how late you can be out in the evenings. In few years ahead, most of these restrictions will be reduced and eventually will be eliminated.
